The southeast has been dry the last 60 days in a typical La Nina pattern where the rains stay northwest. That is changing.
A few waves of showers have swept through the last 10 days.
This one today is impressive.
Strong fronts and rains this time of year come with a price beyond localized flodding – severe weather. Two tornadoes were reported – one at Fort Walton beach, Florida.
The 15 day and 46 day outlook is for above normal rains.
The longer range summer outlook from the CPC (Huug van den Dool) soil moisture enhanced CAS model and the Pioneer (in good agreement) is for a summer with moderate temperatures and above normal rains. Some of that may be tropical in the Pioneer.
